Answer: Soil erosion is the gradual process of removal of uppermost layer of the soil which is rich in nutrient under the action of erosive agents like winds, water, glacier, etc.

At first, soil erosion is a slow process which remains unnoticed, which however under excessive erosive action may reach to alarming rate causing major loss of top soil. This major loss of top soil may be caused by human activities like deforestation, animal grazing, construction, mining, etc.
