Agro-climatic Zones of J&K
- Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) economy is predominantly agriculture-based, with 70% of the population directly or indirectly engaged in agricultural and allied occupations.
- The agro-climatic zones of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) are categorized into three distinct regions i.e., JK-1 (sub-tropical), JK-2 (Intermediate), and JK-3 (Temperate) each with unique characteristics.
- JK-1 (sub-tropical) covers Jammu district and the lower parts of Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, and Poonch districts.
- JK-2 (Intermediate) spans District Doda, the outer hills of Jammu Division, and parts of Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur, and Kathua.
- JK-3 (Temperate) encompasses all six districts of the Kashmir Valley, including Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar, Budgam, ....
