Meo Farmer Movement (1930-34)

  • Area: Alwar and Bharatpur (Mewat).
  • The movement of Meo caste started in 1931 itself.

Reasons:-

  • Increase in rent by Maharaja Jai Singh.
  • Problem of pigs or rodents.
  • Communal demands of Meo Muslims.
  • This was an anti-tax movement.
  • Leaders: Mohammad Ali and Yasin Khan
  • This was the only farmer movement in Rajasthan in which communal violence took place.

Neemuchana Kisan Andolan (1923-24 AD)

  • In 1876, the first land settlement was done in Alwar on the British system.
  • Neemuchana Kisan Andolan took place in Alwar. Presently it is in Bansur tehsil of Alwar district.
