History of Rajasthan
Paleolithic Age (500000 BC – 10000 BC)
- In this period, man used stone tools and did not know the art of smelting metal and tool making.
- The Paleolithic Age is divided into 3 sub-ages-
1. Lower Paleolithic Age (5,00,000 BC – 50,000 BC)
- Mainly concentrated in the east of Aravalli.
- Typical Stone Tools – Handaxes, Flakes and Cleavers.
- Raw material for making tools – Quartzite, Quartz and Basalt.
- Lower Paleolithic sites of Rajasthan – Mandapia, Bingod, Deoli, Nathdwara, Bhainsrorgarh and Navaghat.
2. Middle Paleolithic (50,000 BC - 20,000 BC)
- Tools - Side scrapers, end scrapers, points, borers, flakes etc. Chopper-chopping (Khandak-Gandasa) tools are ....
