Major Dynasties
- Mauryan Empire (321–185 BCE): Ashoka, one of the most significant rulers of the Maurya dynasty, was instrumental in spreading Buddhism across the region. His famous rock edicts can be found in places like Sanchi (near Bhopal), marking his role in the propagation of Buddhist teachings. Sanchi Stupa is a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is a significant Buddhist center in the region.
