  • Rapid industrialization projects include a Merchant Coke Oven Plant with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Tata Steel and a 10,000-acre Mega Chemical Industrial Estate. The Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) project on Nayachar Island was approved in 2008.
