Tripartite Struggle
The tripartite struggle was between Gurjara-Pratihara, Rashtrakuta and Pala dynasties for control over Kannauj and the fertile Gangetic valley.
- The infighting lasted for 200 years and weakened all of the above empires involved.
The Palas of Bengal
- Gopala was the founder of the Pala dynasty and ruled over northern and eastern India (including Magadha).
- Dharmapala (Gopala’s son) succeeded the throne and brought Bengal, Bihar and Kannauj under his control.
- Govind Pala was the last ruler of Palas.
The Rashtrakutas (753-982 CE)
- Founder: Dantidurga (also known as Dantivarman) in 753 CE
- Capital: Manyakheta (Modern day Malkhed in Karnataka)
