- Rs. 18.00 Cr allocated for R&D in 2023-24 under Central Sector Scheme.
- "National Centre for Coal & Energy Sector" (NaCCER) planned to be established at Central Mine Planning & Design Institute Limited (CMPDI), Ranchi.
- R&D thrust areas include production, productivity, safety, exploration, environment, ecology, conservation, sustainability, coal mining waste to wealth, clean coal technologies, coal beneficiation, alternative use of coal, renewable energy, AI/ML/IoT-based smart mining, and technology innovation and indigenisation.
- A Hackathon on Coal Gasification was organized to harness natural resources for energy and chemical needs, fostering economic independence and environmental sustainability.
