Energy Conservation Programmes
- India has outperformed global averages in energy conservation, with energy intensity improving by 2.5% during 2010-19 compared to the global rate of 2%.From 2021-24, India achieved a 1.6% improvement in energy intensity, higher than the global rate of 1.3%.
- In 2024, India’s energy intensity is estimated to improve by 2.5%, significantly surpassing the global projection of 1%.
- Energy intensity is measured in Mega Joule/USD at 2015 Purchasing Power Parity.
- Key government initiatives include Perform, Achieve, and Trade (PAT) for industries, Standards and Labelling for appliances, UJALA for LED adoption, Energy Conservation Building Code, and promotion of electric mobility.
