Development of Indigenous Climate Forecasting System
- The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology-Earth System Model (IITM-ESM), a state-of-the-art Earth System Model, has been developed at the Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR), Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
- IITM-ESM is the first Earth System Model from India and has been used for climate change assessments.
- The IITM-ESM contributed to the Sixth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
- The National Climate Change Assessment report, documenting regional climate change projections, has been released for the benefit of students, researchers, and policymakers.
- Rs. 192.28 crores were sanctioned to IITM-CCCR for the Monsoon Convection, Clouds ....
