On 9th August 2024, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) introduced a standardized reporting format for Research Analysts (RAs) and Proxy Advisers (PAs) as part of its regulatory framework under the RA Regulations.

  • The Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body (RAASB) has been designated by SEBI for overseeing the administration and supervision of RAs under the new regulations.
  • Proxy Advisers (PAs), registered under the RA norms, will also be supervised by RAASB.
  • SEBI's consultation paper reveals plans to implement a standardized format for periodic reporting by RAs and PAs.
  • The new reporting format has been developed based on recommendations from the Industry Standards Forum (ISF) for both RAs and PAs.
  • The standardized format aims to streamline the submission of information related to the activities of RAs and PAs.
  • SEBI has invited public comments on the proposed reporting format, with feedback due by August 30.
  • RAs and PAs will be required to submit their periodic reports for half-yearly periods ending on September 30 and March 31 of each financial year.
