- Haldia is a major port city hosting national and international companies like Indian Oil Corporation, Tata Chemicals, and Haldia Petrochemicals. The Haldia Development Authority supports investors with available land, water, and infrastructure.
- Rapid industrialization projects include a Merchant Coke Oven Plant with West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Tata Steel and a 10,000-acre Mega Chemical Industrial Estate. The Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Region (PCPIR) project on Nayachar Island was approved in 2008.
