Flag Code of India Amendment 2022
On 20th July, 2022, the Central Government amended the Flag Code of India to allow the national flag of India to be flown during the day and night.
- Earlier, the tricolour could be hoisted only between sunrise and sunset.
- In an earlier amendment dated December 30, 2021, the government had allowed the use of machine-made and polyester flags.
- Previously, flags were not allowed to be used.
Background
- The decision comes as the Government has launched the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Flag hoisting in every home) campaign from August 13-15, 2022, as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
