Answer: Certain tribes have been characterised as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) (earlier known as Primitive Tribal Groups) on the basis of their greater ’vulnerability’ even among the tribal groups (Government has categorized 75 tribal groups as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) . PVTGs reside in 18 States and UT of A&N Islands on the basis of pre-agricultural technology, stagnant or declining population, extremely low population and subsistence level of economy.
