In April 2024, the India Employment Report (IER) 2024 which is jointly published by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Institute for Human Development (IHD) highlighted the paradox of higher unemployment alongside rising wages in urban areas, necessitating deeper analysis of its impact on the urban poor.
