e-Court Phase III
On 13th September, 2023, the Union cabinet granted approval for the commencement of Phase 3 of the e-courts project, with a financial allocation of Rs 7,210 crore.
Launched in 2005, the e-courts project aimed to modernize the Indian judiciary through information and communication technology. It digitizes the entire litigation process, from initiation to judgment.
Previous Phases
- Phase 1: It computerized district and taluka courts, introducing Case Information Software (CIS) for essential case services.
- Phase 2: Integrated systems across courts and introduced the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG) for real-time case data.
