Sunita Williams Returns to Earth
On March 18, 2025, NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth via Crew-9 Dragon, concluding a delayed 9-month stay aboard the ISS.
Background
- Launched aboard Boeing’s Starliner (its first crewed flight) in June 2024.
- Return was delayed due to technical issues, extending the mission. The original mission plan was for a 10-day stay on the International Space Station (ISS).
- Starliner: Reusable NASA-Boeing capsule for low-Earth orbit, holds up to 7 passengers.
- March 14, 2025: Crew-10 launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, allowing Crew-9’s departure.
