One Nation One Election
The High-Level Committee (HLC), chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind, in September 2024 submitted its report on ‘One Nation, One Election’ (ONOE) to the President of India.
Key Recommendations
- Simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha, State Assemblies, and Local Bodies.
- Synchronization of voting cycles to reduce economic costs, governance disruptions, and voter fatigue.
- Phased implementation, starting with Lok Sabha & State Assembly elections, followed by Municipal & Panchayat polls within 100 days.
