Digital Agriculture Mission
In August 2024, the Union Cabinet has approved the Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM) with an outlay of Rs. 2,817 crore to enhance agricultural productivity through technology. The mission is based on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and aligns with Union Budget 2024-25 announcements.
Key Pillars of DAM
- Agri Stack (KisankiPehchaan)
- Farmers' Registry: Provides digital IDs to farmers.
- Geo-referenced Village Maps: Links land records.
- Digital Crop Survey: Records crops sown each season.
- Krishi Decision Support System (DSS)
- Integrates crop, soil, weather, and water data into a geospatial system.
- Soil Profile Mapping: Covers 142 million hectares.
- Digital General Crop Estimation Survey (DGCES): Provides accurate yield estimates.
