RoDTEP Scheme
Announced in 2020, Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) replaced the Merchandise Export from India Scheme (MEIS), which was not compliant with the rules of the World Trade Organisation.
- It was launched by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
- The scheme would refund to exporters the embedded central, state and local duties or taxes that were not being rebated or refunded and were, therefore, placing India’s exports at a disadvantage.
- Under this Scheme, duties and taxes levied at the Central, State and local levels, such as electricity duties and VAT on fuel used for transportation, which are not getting exempted ....
