India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC)

During the G20 Summit in New Delhi, an MoU was signed between India, the US, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, the UAE, France, Germany, and Italy to create the India – Middle East – Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).

  • The IMEC is envisioned as a network of transport corridors, including railways and sea lanes, aimed at facilitating economic growth by connecting Asia, the Arabian Gulf, and Europe.
  • The competition between PGII and BRI could lead to diversification of options for countries with infrastructure requirements.
