Bijay Chand Mahtab
In West Bengal, the 119-year-old Curzon Gate in Bardhaman was recently in news. Maharaja Bijay Chand Mahatab built the gate when Lord Curzon, who partitioned Bengal in 1905 and served as Viceroy of India, visited Bardhaman in 1903.
About Bijay Chand Mahtab
- He was the ruler of Burdwan Estate, Bengal in British India (present-day West Bengal) from 1887 till his death in 1941.
- He was a member of the Bengal Legislative Council from 1907 to 1918, and of the Imperial Legislative Council from 1909 to 1912.
