Answer: A tropical cyclone is a rapid rotating storm originating over tropical oceans whose diameter is typically around 200 to 500 km, but can reach 1000 km.

  • The number of very severe cyclones has gone up during the last two decades specially in last two years. Recently cyclones like Jawad, Taukte, Gulab, Yaas, Nisagra, Amphan, Kyarr, etc. have touched Indian coast and they have resulted immense destruction in the region.
