Answer: The Home Rule movement was India's less heated but more effective response to the First World War. With people already suffering the effects of wartime hardships caused by high taxes and price increases, Tilak and Annie Besant were ready to take the lead in the form of two Indian Home Rule Leagues, which were formed in the style of the Irish Home Rule League.
