Answer: A region is said to be water stressed, when the demand of water exceeds the supply of water or when poor quality restricts its use.

According to the World Resource Institute (WRI), India has been placed thirteenth among the world's 17 extremely water stressed countries. Twelve of the 17 countries come from Middle-East and North Africa.
