What are the major industrial corridors of India? How they are contributing to industrial growth?

Answer: Industrial corridor is basically a corridor comprising multimodal transport services which is established to a specific geographical area with the intent to promote industrial growth.

There are five important industrial corridors in India:

  1. Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor of overall length of 1483 km is being established under Japanese loans. It covers 24 industrial region spread across six states.
  2. Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor being funded by Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It runs through Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
  3. Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor covers the state of Maharashtra and Karnataka and is being developed with the help of Britain.
