Answer: Ethics is set of moral values and principles that govern person’s behaviour or his/her conduct with respect to society. Thus, ethical behaviours are socially acceptable conduct.

  • There are several ethical behavior expected of civil servants have been codified into form of laws and rules, whose violation lead to formal penalty or punishment. For example, accepting gift by a public servant without government approval, sexually harassing women at any work place, taking part in political activities during service are considered as an offence under Central Civil Services Conduct Rules, 1964.
