Answer: Land-use pattern of any region explains in which proportion different activities occupies that region. Land-use categories add up to provide total reporting area. This total reporting area is maintained by revenue department.

These are several types of land-use categories:

  • Forest Land: It is total area which is demarcated under law and policies for forest growth by government. India has demarcated 33% of land mass for forest growth.
  • Area of Non-agricultural Use: These are areas which are put to non-agricultural purpose such as urbanization, settlement, industries, market, etc.
