Answer: The Constituent Assembly was constituted in November, 1946 under Cabinet Mission Plan. It was partly elected and partially nominated body. Though it was not directly elected by people of India, but it has representation from all section of Indian society.

  • The Constituent Assembly held its first meeting on 9th Dec, 1946 and on 13th December, 1946, objective resolution was moved in the assembly which laid down philosophy and principles for making the Constitution.
  • There were several committees constituted for making the Constitution, however the drafting committee was important, as it was entrusted with task to draft the Constitution.
