Answer: Indian monsoon refers to seasonal change in direction of wind over Indian subcontinent and South Asian region.

  • In the month of April and May, North Hemispheres receive direct sunlight as the Sun moves towards tropic of Cancer. This leads to gradual heating of land mass and creates low pressure in Tibetan plateau region. Also, the pressure in Indian Ocean begin to rise in south of equator, thereafter low pressure built in north of equator attracts south-east trade winds across the equator.
