Pottery in Ancient India

Pottery is first mentioned in the Neolithic period. Although it is handmade ceramics, a foot-wheel was also employed later.

  • The existence of separate ceramic cultures during the Chalcolithic Age is a defining characteristic of pottery. For instance, ceramics in black and red, black on red, and ochre-coloured.
