Khilji Dynasty (1290-1320)

The founder of the Khilji dynasty was Jalaluddin Khilji. Jalal ud-Din Khalji appreciated poetry and invited many poets to his court. Khusrau was honoured and respected in his court and was given the title "Amir". He was given the job of "Mushaf-dar".

Alauddin Khilji (1296-1316)

  • In 1296, Alauddin Khilji treacherously murdered his father-in-law Jalaluddin Khilji and usurped the throne of Delhi.
  • He was convinced that the general prosperity of the nobles, intermarriages between noble families, inefficient spy-system and drinking liquor were the basic reasons for the rebellions.
