Bihar’s Shahi Litchi gets GI Tag

Shahi Litchi from Bihar has been registered as GI. Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Champaran, Bengusarai districts

and adjoining areas of Bihar have been favorable climate for this fruit with its unique appearance and delicious pearly white
aril.

Timing

In North India the panicle in litchi appear from February to end March. The flowers start opening from end February onward and continue for more than 20 days in a cultivar.
