Biodiversity is the most precious gift of nature the mankind is blessed with. The uniqueness of our planet Earth is due to the presence of life manifested through the diversity in flora and fauna.
The value of biodiversity can be grouped under the following heads:

- The diverse group of organisms found in a particular environment together with the physical and biological factors that affect them, constitute an ecosystem.
- Healthy ecosystems are vital to life. The natural environment is responsible for the production of oxygen, maintenance of water-cycle and other biogeochemical cycles.
