Answer: Solid wastes are unwanted solid or semi-solid materials which accumulate in environment due to human action such as residential, industrial or commercial.
Depending upon their source of production, solid wastes can be categorised in three broad categories:
- Municipal Solid Waste: These are residential or commercial waste generated in municipal or notified town area excluding hazardous waste but include treated biomedical waste.
- Industrial Solid Waste: These are hazardous wastes generated from industrial activities which include toxic elements, substances hazardous to environment and health.
- Biomedical Waste: Such wastes are generated from hospitals like - disposable syringes, mask, PPE Kit, bandage, ....
