Parliamentary privileges can be broadly divided into two categories:

  1. Enjoyed by the Members of Parliament collectively
  2. Enjoyed by the Members of Parliament individually
  • Parliament can only operate if members have the freedom to speak up for constituents. Parliamentarians must be free to seek, receive, and share information and viewpoints without fear. Parliamentary privileges allow:
