Answer: The UN General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption entered into force in 2005. The Convention introduces a comprehensive set of standards, measures and rules that all countries can apply in order to strengthen their legal and regulatory regimes to fight corruption.The United Nations Convention against Corruption is the only legally binding universal anti-corruption instrument.

Article 8 of the Resolution prescribes Codes of Conduct for Public Officials:

  • In order to fight corruption, each State Party shall promote, inter alia, integrity, honesty
  • and responsibility among its public officials, in accordance with the fundamental principles of its legal system.
