Child labour in India is an important social issue. Do you think recent legislation on child labour resolve the issue of child labour in India?

Answer: Child labour defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity and that is harmful to physical and mental development. According to 2011 Census report around 10.1 million in the age group of 5-14 years are working child in India.

Factors behind the Child Labour:

  • Poverty: As per NITI Aayog report around 25 percent people in India belong to BPL Category are forced to do labour.
  • Lack of Educational Resources: with no proper facilities of education for poor, leaving them illiterate and helpless.
