Answer: Women play a central role in all agricultural activities from planting-to-harvesting-to-post-harvest operations. Women’s participation rate in the agricultural sectors is about 44 per cent.They are also involved in allied sectors like fisheries, horticulture, livestock production, sericulture and collection of non-timber forest produce.

According to Economic Survey, with growing rural to urban migration by men, there is ‘feminisation’ of agriculture sector, with increasing number of women in multiple roles as cultivators, entrepreneurs, and labourers.
