Answer: Soil erosion is a gradual process of movement and transport of the upper layer of soil (topsoil) by different agents – particularly water, wind, and mass movement – causing its deterioration in the long term.

There are two main factors contribute to soil erosion:

  • Physical or
  • Human induced.

Some of the examples of physical factors are rainfall, wind flow, storm temperature variation, and slope characteristics like steepness, soil etc.

On the other hand, human induced factors like deforestation, agriculture, resource extraction, use of land and resources in unscientific manner, over exploitation of land resource, overgrazing of the vegetative cover and forest fires, ....
