Answer: SCO is a permanent intergovernmental international organization comprising eight Member States (China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan) with its secretariat in Beijing, China. SCO accounts for 40% of the global population, nearly 20% of global GDP, and around 22% of global landmass.

  • SCO aims to strengthen relations between member nations by deepening political, security and economic cooperation. It aims for joint cooperation between the members to confront threats emanating from terrorism, extremism and separatism. SCO also increases the engagements in the field of trade, commerce, transport, tourism, environment, cultural linkages, education, technology research and development.
