Answer: 73rd and 74th constitutional amendment acts gave constitutional status to the third tier of governance in rural and urban centres i.e. Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies respectively. It added schedule 11thand 12thalong with part IX and IX A to the constitution.
