The Regulating Act of 1773
- Governor-General of Bengal: The Governor of Bengal was now designated as the Governor-General of Bengal and Governors of other provinces in India were subordinate to him.
- Governor-General Council: The Governor-General was to be assisted by a council of four members sent from England.
- Bengal as the Administrative Centre: The British territories in India came to be controlled from Bengal and that in turn was subject to control from England.
- Supreme Court: The Regulating Act set up the Supreme Court at Calcutta with Lord Chief Justice and three judges.
