​India-Maldives: Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership

On 7th October 2024, Indian Prime Minister and Maldivian President met (during the latter’s 5-day visit to India) to discuss bilateral ties, aiming to establish a Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership that prioritizes people-centric initiatives and regional stability.

Political Exchanges

  • Expansion of Leadership Exchanges: Both nations agreed to intensify exchanges among leadership and ministerial levels, including involving parliamentarians and local government representatives.
  • Memorandum of Understanding: They will conclude an MoU to formalize cooperation between their respective Parliaments, emphasizing shared democratic values.
