SC/ST (Amendment) Act 2018

  • In its February 10, 2020 judgement, Supreme Court upheld the constitutional validity of SC/ST Amendment Act 2018, thereby nullifying its own controversial March 20, 2018 judgment.
  • The March 20 judgment had diluted the original 1989 legislation, saying its provisions are being misused to file false criminal complaints against innocent persons.
