Every year on 15th July Sushruta Jayanti is celebrated to honour the legendary Sushruta.
About Sushruta
- He lived in the ancient city of Kashi, now known as Varanasi or Banaras in northern India.
- He is the listed author of the Sushruta Samhita - a treatise considered one of the most important surviving ancient treatises on medicine and considered a foundational text of Ayurveda.
- He is regarded as the ‘Father of Indian Medicine’ and the ‘Father of Plastic Surgery.’
