Economically Weaker Sections

The Union Government of India tabled the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 which provided 10% additional quota for the EWS students amongst the erstwhile unreserved category or General category students. Both houses of the Parliament have passed the Constitution 124th (Amendment) Bill, 2019, it was sent to the President of India for his assent. President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to a bill on 12-01-2019.

The legislation will now be known as the Constitution (103rd Amendment) Act, 2019.
