Causes
- Rural-Urban Migration: Overcrowding in cities is a result of widespread migration from rural to urban areas in quest of greater economic opportunities. The rural poor are drawn to the urban poor by rapid urbanisation, but when they move, they regrettably join them.
- Lack of Opportunities: For the majority of people who are working age, a major issue is a lack of opportunities and skill development. Consequences have resulted from a lack of funding for quality education and essential services like health, sanitization, waste management, and skill development.
