OBCs Reservation: Restoring States’ Power to Specify SEBCs
The makers of the Constitution of India had deliberately made the special provisions for transforming the traditional hierarchical order into a modern egalitarian country. The feature of positive discrimination in favor of the weaker sections of the society is looked as the mechanism for growth and development. To ensure equality as enshrined in the Article 15 and 16, the mechanism of reservations in the state owned institutions and employment in the government and public sector has been pursued as a state policy.
