United Nations World Water Development Report 2023
On 22nd March, 2023, on the occasion of the World Water Day, the United Nations released the World Water Development Report (WWDR).
The production and publication of the report is coordinated by the UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) on behalf of the UN-Water family.
Major Findings
The World’s Water: Demand, Availability and Quality
- Water use has been increasing globally by roughly 1% per year over the last 40 years and is expected to grow at a similar rate through to 2050.
- The bulk of this increase is concentrated in middle- and lower-income countries, particularly in emerging economies.
